Overview
Stringwood Chamber Music Festival is a premier summer music festival located at the Eagle Bluff Environmental Center in Lanesboro, MN. Each summer, Stringwood offers public concerts and a residential student training program for advanced musicians. Stringwood’s Young Artist Chamber Music Program attracts advanced and gifted young artists who come for two weeks to immerse themselves in chamber music study and artistic development.
Stringwood is seeking two to four Residence Life Assistants who will be responsible for creating and promoting a safe, supportive, inclusive, and healthy campus environment for the Young Artists. Residence Life Assistants live on campus with students, faculty, and guest artists and are on-call around the clock for the duration of the contract period. A private single room (with private bath) and meals are provided. This is a seasonal position from early to mid-August each year.
Responsibilities
• Facilitate student arrivals, orientation, and departures, managing the dorm check-in and check-out procedures, leading parts of orientation meetings and other informational sessions
• Assist students with questions and issues concerning daily campus life
• Collect, distribute, and relay information between students and the Artistic Administrator and serve as a liaison between students and staff
• Promote a responsible living-learning atmosphere in the dorms by exemplifying model behavior
• Ensure that all Stringwood policies and rules are followed
• Drive students to off-site activities and essential errands as needed; provide pickup & drop-off service for guest artists as needed
• Respond to emergency situations, direct students on emergency protocols in coordination with Eagle Bluff staff and/or Artistic Administrator
• Be available on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the duration of the Young Artist Program (Residence Life Assistants coordinate an on-call rotation)
• Conduct “spot checks” of dorms and common rooms as needed
• Assist with concert operations, ticketing, and office tasks as needed
• Outdoor activities as assigned

Qualifications
• College undergraduate, recent grad, or graduate student, age 21+
• Experience supervising students, working as a resident assistant, or similar
• Background in classical music performance or study is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work well with a diverse body of students, faculty, and staff
• Emotional maturity, keen perception of human behavior, and the ability to roll with the punches
• Strong problem-solving skills while taking full charge of given tasks
• Flexibility with schedule changes and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
• Strong computer & social media skills; public audio and video recording a plus
• A love of the outdoors and physical ability to learn to canoe, belay, and assist with a zip line
• A valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to drive a passenger van
Compensation and Benefits
• Salary: $800/week; contract period minimum 2 weeks
• Private single room (with private bath) with linens
• On-campus dining (3 meals a day)
